| ABSTRACT: In this article we share how controversial topics, like race and racism, can serve as meaningful contexts for statistical investigations. We report findings from our study in which middle and secondary preservice teachers engaged in an analysis of real traffic stop data to examine the potential for racial bias in policing. We found that the investigation afforded the preservice teachers with opportunities to make connections between their statistical analysis and the context. | ||
